Afternoon Tea Exhibition

On Wednesday 13th of October, the year 2 & 3 students invited their parents to a very special afternoon tea and exhibition in the Old Hall. The year 2 & 3 girls were assisted by Mrs Fraser's year 8 class.

The event gave the girls a chance to show their parents some of the work they had been doing recently. The posters on the walls of the Old Hall showed photographs of original features and obvious signs of wear and tear in the Old Hall and Tower Block. The photographs had been taken by the year 2 & 3 students working with the year 8 girls who had selected sections of the Old Hall that they thought were special to the school. The original features and obvious signs of wear and tear photographed included the old assembly lectern, the decorative fittings around the door frames and lights and the holes in the walls around the tower entrance. Each poster included a description of why that particular original feature or obvious sign of wear and tear had been photographed.

The year 8 students also contributed to the exhibition, they displayed the dolls houses they had made, modelled on the doll house in the short story, "The Dolls' House", by Katherine Mansfield.

The guests who included both parents and some grandparents were treated to fresh scones and lemonade. The girls had made the scones and lemonade earlier in the day. The choice of scones was part of the girls attempt to create the atmosphere of a Victorian afternoon tea party.

The afternoon tea was a great success and was thoroughly enjoyed by the girls and their guests. One of the purposes for having the afternoon tea was so that the year 8 and year 2 & 3 girls could co-operate, and this was achieved when making the scones and lemonade. It was also a great way to show the parents what their girls have been working on.

P.S. the scones were really good too!
